What is revenue share?
A commission model paying you a percentage of the revenue your referred users generate, for as long as they remain active.
Revenue share pays a percentage of what the people you refer actually generate for the operator — trading fees, spread, or subscription income — rather than a one-off amount for the referral itself.
Why it matters
The headline percentage tells you almost nothing on its own, because everything depends on the base it is applied to and how long it keeps paying. A 40% share of a user who trades twice and leaves is worth less than a 20% share of one who stays a year. Two things decide the real value: the revenue an average referred user generates, and retention. Ask for a median rather than an average — a handful of exceptional accounts can lift a mean well beyond what a typical referral earns. And check whether the share applies to gross revenue or to net revenue after the operator deducts its own costs, because that distinction can halve the figure.
