What is AML?

Anti-Money Laundering: the monitoring and reporting obligations a regulated platform carries beyond initial identity checks.

AML covers the ongoing obligations that follow verification: transaction monitoring, sanctions screening, record keeping, and reporting activity that meets defined thresholds to the relevant authority.

Why it matters

AML is why an account can be frozen without warning and without a detailed explanation — a platform under a reporting obligation is frequently prohibited from telling you why. The practical consequences for an ordinary user are worth knowing in advance: deposits from a third party, rapid movement of funds in and out, or transfers touching a flagged address can all trigger review. None of that implies wrongdoing, but it can lock funds for weeks. Keeping your own records of where funds came from is the single most useful precaution.
